Shoe Box Gifts for Neighbors in Need or Crisis

“What can I say.  I am here and it’s Christmas – I’m not with my family because I messed up too many times. I didn’t want to think about Christmas or have a ‘good Christmas.’ I told myself I didn’t care. But it turned out I did have a ‘good Christmas!’ I got a new wallet, I never had a wallet before and I had fun and was really happy. I totally didn’t expect it! Thank you!”- Joe, New Community Shelter, Green Bay

“Here in the Emergency Dept. we see children who come to us in pain. I had a 4 year old boy come in with significant pain. We presented him with a Christmas Care gift that we thought might be a good match for him.  As soon as he opened it he started shouting with excitement and talking nonstop, eagerly pulling every piece of fun out of that box. He LOVED every single thing and was able to sit on the Emergency Dept. cot, forgetting the pain while he played and waited for treatment. Because of your generosity, I got to see a little boy forget that he was in pain. That gift totally turned his visit around…for both of us!”  – Lisa McGee, ER Nurse St. Agnes Hosptial, Fond du Lac

91.9/91.5 The Family’s 19th annual ‘Christmas Care’ event supplied 35 local crisis agencies and emergency rooms with Christmas gifts for people in crisis. The goal of Christmas Care is to reach out with the love of Jesus Christ and to joyfully give hurting people a tangible reminder that we (their neighbors) remember them and care for them, and so does God.
